Microsoft’s decentralized id community ION, first introduced in Could is transferring to beta testing on the Bitcoin community.
In a June 10 weblog put up, Daniel Buchner, a program supervisor for the Microsoft Id crew, stated the open-sourced, layer 2 Id Overlay Community (ION) had launched. The intention is to offer customers with a decentralized identifier (DID) that would exchange the necessity for usernames.
Developed along with the Decentralized Id Basis, ION was developed as a decentralized community to function independently and doesn’t depend on “particular utility tokens, trusted validator nodes, or further consensus mechanisms”.
“The core promise of DID expertise is to empower all people and entities with possession and management over their identities, which aligns properly with our mission of empowering each individual to work, play, and obtain extra,” stated Buchner. “To ship on that promise, we’ve got chosen a special path from a number of the extra centralized approaches to DID applied sciences—and we consider ION exemplifies that selection.”
Microsoft has not but set a launch date for the ultimate model, however stated it will be engaged on hardening the protocol and enhancing the ION reference implementation over the approaching months.
Microsoft continues its blockchain streak
Cointelegraph reported in Could that the tech big had introduced its model new Azure Blockchain Service together with Azure Blockchain Growth Equipment for the Ethereum blockchain.
It isn’t the one firm seeing the potential of DID expertise. ConsenSys is using the blockchain agnostic protocol Ethr-DID for its personal DID, in distinction to Microsoft’s SideTree.
