With Data Credits now live, we also enabled another neat new feature — the ability to burn HNT into Data Credits.
The way this works is HNT owners can either scan a QR code on Helium Console using our mobile app, or you can use the Wallet CLI tool to burn HNT and send Data Credits to an Organization. These transactions will appear on the Console Data Credits page and the Data Credit balance will be updated accordingly. More details can be found here.
Proof-of-Coverage (PoC) is used to verify that Hotspots are providing legitimate wireless network coverage. We recently discovered a bug that allowed Hotspots asserted in incorrect locations to successfully participate in Proof-of-Coverage challenges.
On September 14th at 12pm PT, we intend to deploy a fix to address this bug. This should not impact the majority of Hotspots. If your Hotspot is asserted within 100ft of its physical location, no action is required.
If your Hotspot does not have the correct location asserted, please read our blog to take action prior to this update being deployed.
Helium community member Arman Dezfuli-Arjomandi launched a new podcast series called The Hotspot. In his first two episodes, Arman chats with our CEO, Amir Haleem, about the story of Helium, building the fastest-growing network for IoT, and the inner workings of Proof-of-Coverage.
In the third episode, Tushar Jain of Multicoin Capital joins Arman to talk about what excites him about The People’s Network, its novel incentive model powered by the Helium Blockchain, and DeWi.
