Stellar Dev Digest: Issue #63. SDF’s quarter in review, Stellar Quest… | by Kolten | Stellar Community | Oct, 2020

💬 This week I’m highlighting a conversation around a newly proposed SEP —Address Directory API!

Shared by Orbitlens, this standard describes an open REST API interface of StellarExpert’s service that maintains a list of well-known Stellar account addresses.

This curated list of Stellar addresses provides publicly available information about well-known accounts via a set of open REST API endpoints. The Address Directory API will be publicly available for everyone — free of charge.

An open directory enables Stellar-based apps to do some interesting things. For example: If an address is associated with an exchange, wallets can recommend a memo. If an address is associated with a scam, applications can throw a warning. The list goes on.

The Address Directory API open sources a lot of the dirty work applications would have to do in order to provide this type of experience to their users.

👉 Would this SEP be valuable to your application? Join the conversation on the mailing list.
