In Visa fiscal Q1 2021 earnings call, Visa CEO Alfred Kelly talked about cryptocurrency and opportunities he sees within the crypto space.

Consequently, he added that Visa is uniquely positioned with a vision to make crypto secure and safe to use. Meanwhile, Visa said previously that it will not include cryptocurrencies on its network but will rather add coin support.

Kelly said,

In this space, we see ways that we can add differentiated value to the ecosystem.

For this reason, he expressed that Visa has more than 35 platforms and wallet partnerships. This makes Visa arguably the largest financial service firm globally.

Kelly sees Bitcoin, “digital gold” stablecoins, and fiat-based central bank digital currencies (CBDCs) as the main assets driving the industry.

As a matter of fact, Kelly thinks that these assets have the potential to be used for global ecommerce. Furthermore, Visa hopes to continue partnering to provide gateways that will enable users to seamlessly withdraw assets in over 70 million merchants. To withdraw assets, users will mainly use their Visa credentials according to Visa.

In addition, digital asset companies including Crypto.com, Fold, and BlockFi have already issued Visa-like branded products.

For this, Visa plans to add cryptocurrency services on its network in the coming days. It aims to achieve this milestone through wallet and platform integrations.
