We’re pleased to announce today that Theta will partner with the World of Women (WoW) NFT collection to stream its first-ever WoW Gala in Miami. The star-studded event during Miami Art Week will be live streamed using the ThetaDrop Video Portal powered by Theta Metachain for any holder of a WoW NFT.
The WoW Gala will take place on Dec. 1 at Miami Art Week, bringing the WoW community and diverse collectors, creators and partners together to celebrate art, representation and equal opportunities for all. The theme, Galactic Glamour, is inspired by the 8 Worlds of the World of Women Galaxy collection and is hosted by Ros Gold-Onwude. This is the first-ever WoW Awards and will honor members of the community with special-guest appearances. oncyber, a curated metaverse where NFT artists and collectors put together tailored immersive experiences, will also be hosting a gallery experience powered by Theta.
Theta will power the livestream experience on ThetaDrop Video Portal, including “The Purple Carpet,” interviews and the award ceremony, giving token holders the opportunity to connect and chat with other holders during the event. Built on Theta Video API, the portal will allow any holder of a WoW ETH NFT to access the stream using Theta’s patented NFT DRM technology.
This is the first step in the strategy of using Theta technology to draw in millions of users from other blockchains by delivering value to existing crypto communities. WoW holders that join the livestream event will watch it on ThetaDrop, joining the Theta community and gaining exposure to numerous other decentralized applications and NFT collections in the Theta ecosystem. Plans are in the works already for other ETH-based NFT communities to use Theta NFT DRM to gain additional utility through video experiences and other Theta-powered use cases.
